Headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, indigestion, muscle pain (myalgia), joint pain, weakness, increased liver enzymes

Not recommended in active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevation of liver enzymes. Risk of muscle injury (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis); seek care for unexplained muscle pain/weakness especially with fever or dark urine. Use with caution in alcohol use, hypothyroidism, kidney impairment, and in elderly. Periodic liver function tests may be advised. Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (clarithromycin, erythromycin, ketoconazole/itraconazole, ritonavir and other protease inhibitors), grapefruit juice, cyclosporine, gemfibrozil and other fibrates, niacin (high doses), colchicine, warfarin (monitor INR), digoxin, amiodarone/verapamil/diltiazem (may increase atorvastatin levels)
