Warnings & Precautions
Risk of hypercalcaemia and vitamin D toxicity with excessive dosing—monitor serum calcium, phosphate and 25(OH)D especially with repeated high-dose use. Use with caution in kidney disease, history of kidney stones, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis or other granulomatous disorders. Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia, hypervitaminosis D and hypersensitivity to vitamin D preparations.
Drug Interactions
Thiazide diuretics (increased risk of hypercalcaemia), Digoxin/other cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with hypercalcaemia), Anticonvulsants like phenytoin/phenobarbital and rifampicin (reduced vitamin D effect), Cholestyramine/orlistat (reduced absorption of vitamin D), Corticosteroids (reduced vitamin D effect), Magnesium-containing antacids (risk of hypermagnesaemia in renal impairment)
